My account and my project say different things. Which one wins?
It depends on the section.
The project replaces the account for business context, models and edit strategy, and Page Structures and Writing Recipes.
The project adds to the account for rules, memory and saved instructions. When two rules conflict, the more specific one wins, unless the other is HARD.
What the agent knows about you covers each section.
What does a HARD rule do?
A HARD rule is always included, whatever its activation, and the writer is told never to override it. A more specific rule cannot override it. Keep HARD for what is truly non-negotiable, such as legal or claims policies.
The agent ignored one of my rules. Why?
Check three things on the rule's card in Agent Studio → Rules:
The switch is on. A switched-off rule is kept but not used.
The activation. An On request rule is only pulled in when the agent judges it relevant, so give it a clear name and description, or change it to Always on.
The scope. A rule scoped to one project or draft does not apply anywhere else.
If it must never be skipped, mark it HARD.
What is the difference between Memory, Learn my voice and Rules?
Memory is what the agent learns from working with you, and what you teach it directly. It is easy to add to and correct, and a tidy can merge or replace memories.
Learn my voice is a way to fill Memory: paste a sample of your writing and the agent adds the preferences it finds as memories.
Rules are guidance you write and control. The agent never changes them, and you can make them HARD. When a memory matters enough, promote it to a rule from its card.
Can I stop the agent from learning something?
Yes. Delete the memory and click Never remember, or add the text to the Never remember list at the bottom of the Memory tab. See Agent memory.
Does memory cost anything?
Learning new memories and tidying them both use an AI model, so they count toward your AI usage allowance, unless you use your own API key for that model's provider. The memories themselves cost nothing to keep.
Is my whole Context Library sent to the agent every time?
No. The agent only reads what you attach to a message. Each item is read up to about 40,000 characters, and in the Targeted tab everything attached to one request shares a budget of about 100,000 characters. An attached folder in the Agent tab gives the agent a list of its items, and it opens only the ones it needs. See The Context Library.
Why can't I edit or delete a built-in mode?
The four built-in modes are locked so they always behave the same way. To get a variation, click New Mode and create your own with the persona, tools and models you want.
I filed a mode under a project. Why does it show up everywhere?
Filing a mode under a project only keeps your list organized. Every mode stays selectable in every draft.
Where do Page Structures and Writing Recipes apply?
Only to commercial pages: product, service and landing pages. Page Structures lists the sections a page of each type must have, and Writing Recipes describes how each section gets written. Long-form content ignores both. Research for commercial pages explains how they shape a page plan.
