Why did my run stop and ask me something?
A new run pauses after its search stage so you can choose a search intent and a format. Your picks decide which ranking pages the outline or page plan is built from. See choosing a search intent and format.
When is a research credit spent?
Once the ranking pages have been read and classified, just before the run asks you to pick an intent and format. A refresh spends another credit the same way.
Does a failed or canceled run cost a credit?
The run fails before the picker: no. Nothing has been charged yet.
Building the outline or page plan fails: no, as long as it fails before your outline or page plan is saved. A failure in the later analysis steps, once it is saved, finishes the run with a warning and keeps the credit.
You cancel before the picker: normally no, nothing has been charged yet. If the run finishes reading and classifying just as you cancel, the credit is spent and the run waits at the picker.
You cancel while the outline or page plan is being built: no, as long as your outline or page plan has not been saved yet. The credit is refunded and the run goes back to the intent and format picker.
You cancel after your outline or page plan is saved: yes. The run is finished rather than undone, so you keep the outline or page plan and the credit stays spent. Some of the later analysis steps may be missing.
You leave a run waiting at the picker: the credit stays spent. Pick an intent and format whenever you are ready.
What happens if a run gets stuck?
WordCrafter stops a run that has stopped making progress, and the run says it stalled and was stopped. What happens to the credit depends on how far the run got. A run that stalls before your outline or page plan is saved refunds the credit and goes back to the picker with its search results intact, so you can pick again without searching again. A run that stalls after it is saved is finished instead: the outline is kept and so is the credit, and some of the later analysis steps may be missing.
Why does a result say "Could not be read"?
The page blocked automated readers or had no readable text, so it could not join the analysis. It still shows in the results, but it does not shape your outline or page plan.
Why does a video say "Not analyzed"?
The video was not processed into the analysis, so it does not shape your outline or page plan.
Can I change the intent or format after a research finishes?
Not on a finished research. The picker only appears while a research is waiting for your input, and a refresh reuses the intent and format you picked. See managing your research.
Do page audits and content briefs spend credits?
No. A page audit and a content brief spend no research credit and do not count against your AI usage allowance.
Where can I see how many research credits I have left?
On a plan with a monthly research allowance, the research list and the new research form both show how many credits you have left. How research credits work covers what each plan includes.
